Still at Point South KOA

We had to move to a different lot today because the one we were in had been reserved for the weekend by someone else.  That is okay..the new spot is not as shady and no sewer hookup. We will just have to go to the dump before we leave. We plan to leave Wednesday.  This new spot is great because the wifi works sooooo much better. Got my prescription

figured out. I have been getting them by mail order but we are not going to be in one place long enough for the mail to arrive.  Just called my doctor and had him do a new prescription to Rite Aid and then can get it refilled where ever we are.  Only $4 for generic at Rite Aid so price is good.  We bought a new car dollie and its so pretty!  No more renting one and all that hassle.  Most of the U Haul ones are in bad condition too.  We may go to Beuford, S.C.   Its the second oldest city (after Charleston) in the state. There is also a marine base near here and a Campers world like 15 minutes away....maybe can get it all done before we leave the area Wednesday. The nearest grocery and the Rite Aid are like 12 miles away. When we went for groceries we stopped at Waffle House for a late breakfast.  Actually there is a closer Waffle House really near the park, but I don't know if I want to go there again so soon.

Yemassee, South Carolina Point South KOA

We thought we might only stay at this campground for a couple days but seeing how nice it is we are re-thinking this. It is called Point South Koa Park.  Lots of tall trees and shady.  The office is nice with a coffee shop and a wine bar. There are wine tasting offered every night.  They have pizza and wings as well.  We tried the pizza tonight because we just did not feel like going to the grocery store. Actually we will have to FIND a grocery store. Getting laundry done and just relaxing with some good TV.  Lenny has MSNBC so he is happy.  I have PBS so I am happy.  The wifi works about the same as the last park we were at. Look at the woods. I keep imaging the varmints in there, Snakes, alligators, bears???? The skinny vanilla latte in the Coffee shop was better than Starbucks.

Leaving Virginia

We finally got out of Virginia.  We got a car dollie from U haul.  They did not have any available anywhere since the hurricane passed us by.  We got as far as Durham, North Carolina area before we found a Flying J to stop for the night. We had been to Durham at a campground back in the old NWA days. Lenny got very ill when he was working at RDU airport back then. He ended up in the hospital. He was released on Christmas Eve day.  We had to go to Flying J to get propane for heating. We ended up eating dinner there on Christmas Eve.  I was surprised at how many others were there eating dinner also on the holiday.  Anyway this was the same Flying J, only the restaurant is a Denny's now. We parked at the Flying J overnight and had breakfast there in the morning. We drove to Thomasville N.C. where we bought our own car dollie.  We won't have to go through the hassle of renting another one.

The Virginia Aquarium

The Viginia Aquarium is wonderful  We went early and spent like 3 and a half hours there.  There was a nature trail than went back around a marsh through the woods.  They had an Adventure thing back in the woods. Young people were having a great time climbing through the trees and zip lining across the marsh.

Hurricane Joachim

There is a hurricane coming!  It stalled by the Bahamas for days.  They could not decide if it would come to shore in northern North Carolina, Virginia (where we are) or veer off to the Northeast.  It rained hard for days, which was an entirely different storm.  WE were ready to head west at one point until the weather report said storms were coming through the Carolinas with very heavy rains and flooding. Dangerous to be on the highway.  What to do???  The hurricane decided it would miss us so we decided we were safer to stay in Virginia with the rain. The ground got quite soggy with standing water but never dangerous.  We were very tired of the rain though.  It really poured down heavily for hours.  Now today, Saturday it was a beautiful sunny day. Tonight though it is raining again.  Its windy too but nothing terrible.

KOA VIRGINIA BEACH Sept 2015

We like this campground..another KOA.  We got here a day earlier than we had planned to went to the park hoping we could get in a day early.  We did but had to take a lot without sewer and only 30 amp service.  Could not get the cable tv to work and had the campground tech guy come by. He found the problem so we finally have TV..such as it is. Basic cable is pretty basic but better than nothing. The TV with the antenna is really bad here.  After the weekend we moved to a lot with sewer so I was able to do laundry.
